About SFV

The Sikh Foundation of Virginia (SFV) is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, and educational purposes. The objectives of SFV include but are not limited to:

  • Propagating the teachings of Sikh Gurus and Guru Granth Sahib.
  • Promoting religious, educational, social, and cultural aspects of Sikhism.
  • Holding congregations regularly and to partake in celebrating Gurpurbs and other specific occasions related to the teachings of Sikh Gurus and Guru Granth Sahib in a benefiting manner.
  • Coordinating activities with other Sikh Institutions.

HistoryThe gurdwara was founded in the 1987 and operates from a building that reflects traditional sikh architecture with a pure gold-plated dome. It also has a nishan sahib (flag pole) with the saffron colored sikh flag that proudly rises high and is visible from far.
